The chairman of the Hasty Pudding Institute, Andrews L. Farkas, was giving his speech to introduce the Pudding’s 2019 Man of the Year when he had to stop shortly after he started. The crowd went wild when he announced the co-ed casting for the Pudding’s 2019 musical, which caused the chairman to have to pause his speech until the crowd would calm back down. He was able to announce before the crowd went wild that the honoree for the 2019 Man of the Year Award is Milo Ventimiglia.
The Hasty Pudding Man of the Year Award ceremony not only marked the debut of the 2019 Pudding’s historic show, “France! France! Revolution,” but it also marked the 53rd round of the Man of the Year celebrations. The celebration was extra special in 2019 due to the company fully completing gender inclusivity. Three of the women taking part in the 2019 show was included within the Man of Year celebration’s annual celebrity roast.
Milo Ventimiglia is currently known for his role as Jack Pearson on the NBC drama “This is Us,” but he has also had roles on great shows like “Gilmore Girls,” “American Dreams,” and “Heroes.” During the celebration, many celebrities participated in a roasting of Ventimiglia where they all took turns picking on him for different things, such as Elizabeth Mann and Mariana Sanchez picking on him for his “Sexiest Vegetarian Alive” title he received from the PETA. When asked what his family thought of him receiving the award, Ventimiglia mentions that when he tried to tell his mom, she would not even let him get out the full title of the award before she started celebrating. When Ventimiglia was asked how he felt about receiving the Man of the Year Award, he said he was honored that he loved the way the award honored the differences between actors and what makes them each unique.
